Rubber Aircraft Keypad
Aircraft Keypad is also known as aircraft keyboard, aviation keyboard that is made of silicone rubber, used for flight simulator, aerospace and military industry. Rubber aircraft keypad shoud be durable to resist hard working environment. That means these rubber keypad should resist extremely low and high temperature, UV light and abrasion. In addition, aviation keyboard must be with good and sensitive conduction. Most rubber aircraft keypads are conductive by metal domes or metal pills (gold & nickel pills).

Aircraft Keyboard Material Option
Before choosing silicone material for aircarft keypad, we must consider keypad working conditions.
1. Aviation keyboard working temperature and duration time.
2. Will the rubber aircraft keypad always exposed to sunlight?
3. Should the aircraft keyboard have good light transmittance rate, in order to be backlighting in the dark?
4. Will the rubber aircraft keypad contact with any gasoline or other chemical solvent?
Common silicone brittle temperature is -60°C. Common silicone keypad will loose resilience and mechanical properties become poor when temperature is at or below -60°C. So if silicone aircraft keypad will work in extremely cold temperature, we should choose special low-temperature-resistance silicone material. Sometimes, anti-UV additive is added to silicone rubber for the purpose of resistance of UV light.
Backlighting Aircarft Keypad
Most Rubber Aircraft Keypads are backlighting in order to work in the dark. Backlighting aricraft keyboard should be laser etched. Differernt from silkscreen printing, these symbols are laser engraved after rubber keypad is color coated. To prevent light leakage, color coating should be thick enough.
Aircraft Keypad Protection Coating
For backlighting aviation keyboard, generally we spray PU on keypad surface to make aircraft keyboard more wear-resistance. Matte smooth coating (oil coating) is another protection coating option, but protect effect is not good as PU coating.
