Silicone Backlight Keypad, which make full use of transparent & translucent silicon materials characeteristics, compatible with LED lighting in aim to get backlight symbols & icons or legends & icon's backgrounds.
Back light Silicone Rubber Keypad & Keyboard, mainly have three types:

Laser Etched & Cutting Silicone Keypad, which is a common silicone backlight keypad, is produced by rubber keypad's surface spray color coating or screen printing + laser cutting machines in aim to achieve back light legends & icons or legend's background backlight effects. 

After Laser Eteched, silicone rubber keypads surface should be coated by PU coating or matte smooth coating laser for more protection.

When do the backlight silicone rubber keypad, it needs positioning tooling and laser cutting tooling.

Transparent & Tranlucent Backlight Keypad, which take full advanatge of transparent silicone or transparent silicone + pigment to attain the desirable backlight effects. Some translucent silicone backlight, also choose keyboard color coating to light blocking.

Screen Print Backlight Keypad, which silicone keypads surface legends is produce by silk creen printing & transfer machines.
Generally, most of screen printing backlight keypad, print legends without protective coating for better backlight effects.
Notes: if color coating legends or laser engraving legends, should do surface protection.
